Der vorliegende erste Band enthält die Vektoranalysis von drei Dimensionen. Im zweiten Bande soll die von vier und mehr Dimen sionen behandelt werden, die durch die Anwendung auf die Rela tivitätstheorie eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Hier tritt der Begriff des T ensors in den Vordergrund. Er gehört zu denen, auf die sich Graßmanns prophetische Worte am Schlusse der Vorrede zur Aus dehnungslehre von 1862 beziehen: „ich weiß, daß einst diese Ideen, wenn auch in veränderter Form, neu erstehen und mit der Zeit entwicklung in lebendige Wechselwirkung treten werden.
