Alloyoç. Iiarm. I, 16 32 17, 21. Ru. 294, 296, 298. Plut. De la Musique, gg 405, 406. Psell. G 16. Irrationnel.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book provides an invaluable insight into the theories of musical rhythm proposed by ancient Greek philosopher Aristoxenus. It presents a thorough analysis of his work, 'Elements of Rhythm'. Delving into the historical context of ancient Greek music, the book offers a comprehensive examination of Aristoxenus's ideas on rhythm as an abstract concept, distinct from its physical realization through syllables, notes, or gestures. It sheds light on how Aristoxenus established fundamental principles for the study of musical rhythm that went beyond the limitations of specific musical traditions, offering a theoretical framework still relevant to contemporary music theory. This detailed exploration of Aristoxenus's theories makes this book a valuable resource for scholars and practitioners interested in the history and foundations of music theory.
