Each chapter, covering either a technique or a factor to be tested, discusses basic principles; applications, often with illustrations; limitations, both of the testing itself and of the information obtained; and results. The publisher claims the book to be for engineers, but the nontechnical text and the sparseness of references make it more suitable for plant managers surveying possibilities.
