UV spectrosocpy is an established method, but recent applications of mathematical techniques has expanded its role. These newer chemometric techniques are covered together with the fundamental principles of UV spectroscopy.The role of mathematical techniques and developments in computers is expected to give new life to UV spectroscopy. Many industries, especially the pharmaceutical industry, are required to demonstrate that staff have received adequate training in the techniques they use. Most of the training is carried out "in house" and the book should provide a useful text to supplement the training exercises. The experiments included in the book can also be used as part of a training course. The book also discusses standards and validation which are topics of increasing concern in industry. "UV spectroscopy" should be of use to all scientists in analytical and clinical chemistry, life sciences, environmental studies, food analysis, and biomedical and pharmaceutical analysis.
