Schools have always had a great deal to do with matters of value, but their purpose is generally described as the teaching of thinking and the transmitting of bodies of fact and theory. "The Teaching of Values" explores the place of values in education. Setting its discussion within a philosophical, psychological and social framework, the author examines different kinds of values, focusing on moral and aesthetic values, but also looking at the clusters of values surrounding work and play, friendship and love and knowledge itself.
