Excerpt from Conchologia Systematica, or Complete System of Conchology, Vol. 1 of 2: In Which the Lepades and Conchiferous Mollusca Are Described and Classified According to Their Natural Organization and Habits
It is not my intention to add to the controversy on the true definition of this science, nor to acknowledge any distinction between the study of Malacology and that of Conchology; I conceive the natural history of the animal to be inseparable from that of the shell, and have adopted the latter term as the original and most suitable.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book reconstructs the history of medical ideas by tracing the evolution of scientific and philosophical thought related to the human body from the Greeks until the late middle ages. By chronicling the beliefs and practices of early physicians and questioning the historical methods that underpin the accepted narrative, the author broadens our understanding of medical history's complexity. This book ultimately demonstrates that medicine is not a linear progression but a rich tapestry woven from diverse cultural, philosophical, and scientific strands.
