Sinossi

The classic guide to GC/MS—now expanded and updated

The combination of gas liquid chromatography (GC) for separation and mass spectrometry (MS) for detection and identification of the components of a mixtureof compounds is rapidly becoming the definitive analytical tool in research and commercial analytical laboratories. GC/MS: A Practical User's Guide, Second Editionis a concise primer for the novice chromatographer who needs to get up to speed on using this technique to analyze and identify compounds for various applications. After chapters that explain the essential principles, this authoritative guide:

  • Discusses the practical aspects of optimizing, tuning, using, and maintaining GC/MS equipment

  • Explores recent advances in miniaturized and field-portable GC/MS systems and microfluidic components

  • Covers applications in the environmental laboratory and in forensics, toxicology, and space science

  • Features information on using spectral databases for identifying compounds

  • Includes a CD-ROM with a PowerPoint® slide set, FAQs, tables, and a glossary

This is the reliable, hands-on resource on GC/MS for organic, analytical, clinical, environmental, and forensic chemists in all types of laboratories, as well as for students in these specialties.
