An Introduction to Applied and Environmental Geophysics John M. The range of applications covered includes mineral and hydrocarbon exploration, but the greatest emphasis is on the use of geophysics in civil engineering, and in environmental and groundwater investigations. The level of mathematics and physics is deliberately kept to a minimum but is described qualitatively within the text. Relevant mathematical expressions are separated into boxes to supplement the text and the book is profusely illustrated with many figures and line drawings. Ideal for students wanting a broad introduction to the subject, the book is also designed for practising civil engineers, geologists, archaeologists and environmental scientists who need an overview of modern geophysical methods relevant to their discipline.
