These useful finite element computer programs illustrate many of the ideas considered in the book. The logic can also be followed without these finer details since these computer programs and subroutines are also represented by examples and flowcharts. The second volume will address advanced topics such as large strains and large rotations, plasticity with a range of yield criteria and hardening rules, stability theory and advanced solution procedures including branch-switching techniques, contact and friction, and non-linear dynamics. It will also include examples from an up-dated non-linear finite element computer program incorporating the advanced solution procedures.

L'autore

Professor Crisfield obtained both his BSc and his PhD in Civil Engineering from The Queen's University of Belfast. Until the end of 1988 he worked in the Structures Department of the Transport and Road Research Laboratory. He was appointed to his current position in which he holds the FEA chair of Computational Mechanics in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College, London. He is also a consultant for FEA Ltd who develop and market the LUSAS non-linear finite element system. He has written one book on linear finite elements and over 70 papers and reports on finite elements and structural analysis.
