Nearly all of the present day textbooks in psychology either omit entirely a study of the thinking process, or treat it very inadequately, on the ground that logic is a separate science. Whether it is a separate science or not, a knowledge of logical processes is an essential element in the preparation of a teacher; and since few normal schools offer a separate course in logic, Whatever knowledge of logical processes is acquired must be obtained from the course in psychology.
