Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book traces the origins and evolution of the medieval Tristan and Isolde narrative, a story of star-crossed lovers. The author examines the tale's transformation from its origins in ancient myths and folklore, through its development in Celtic and French traditions, to its ultimate refinement by medieval poets. The author argues that the story is heavily influenced by the popular medieval literary genre of courtly romance, which idealized themes of chivalry and courtly love. While the story has often been associated with Celtic mythology, the author finds that most of its central elements can be traced to other sources, such as the popular medieval genre of fabliaux, or short, often bawdy tales. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Codice articolo 9780484954426_0
