The most comprehensive study of this subject to date, A History of Russian Architecture surveys Russian building from the masonry churches of tenth-century Kievan Rus to the pre-fabricated built environments of the present. The book performs a dual function - it is a cultural, as well as an architectural history of Russia, demonstrating how the architecture of Russia has responded to the political, cultural and social environments in which it was built.
