John L. Gittleman is Professor of Biology at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. He is the Editor of Carnivore Behavior, Ecology and Evolution and co-Editor of Animal Conservation. His research focuses on macroevolutionary problems related to speciation, extinction and the evolution of biodiversity. Stephan M. Funk is at the Zoological Society of London. David Macdonald is Director of the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit at the University of Oxford, and A.D. White Professor of Cornell University. He has worked on carnivore biology for over 25 years, and has over 300 published papers. He has twice won the Natural History Writer of the Year award. Robert K. Wayne is at the Department of Organismic Biology, Ecology and Evolution, University of California, Los Angeles.
