Key Stage 1 Starship is a new BBC service of pupil book, TV programmes, radio programmes and website designed to help prepare six and seven year olds for their KS1 National Tests. Parents are concerned that their children perform well in these tests and activity books are an important tool for parents in supporting their child's test preparation. The Starship Pupil book uses the characters from the accompanying broadcast resources. There is Hutch, the impulsive rabbit, Star the intelligent dog, and the mechanical dragonfly Sky. They seem pretty ordinary until they get into their Starship when their true natures are revealed. They all have massive child appeal and help to make these books much more fun for preparing for the National Tests than the competing books.
