Ellen Siever is a writer and editor at O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. In addition to Linux in a Nutshell, she has co-authored Perl in a Nutshell and the Perl Modules Reference for the Unix edition of the Perl Resource Kit. She was a programmer for many years, until she decided that writing about computers was more fun. Stephen Spainhour is a writer for O'Reilly & Associates. He co-authored Webmaster in a Nutshell, Perl in a Nutshell, and has contributed to many other O'Reilly titles. He is an avid fan of professional tennis, and when he's not checking for tennis scores on the Web, he enjoys cooking, electronic music, troubleshooting his home-built PC, and watching too much television. Stephen Figgins is an editor with the O'Reilly Network. For five years before becoming an editor, Stephen answered O'Reilly customers' technical questions. It was a technician's dream, job: getting paid to read O'Reilly books and talk about them with people. Linux is his operating system of choice. Jessica P. Hekman lives in Arlington, Massachusetts. She ventured into the real world in 1995 with a degree in Medieval History and Literature. She has put it to, good use at O'Reilly & Associates (as a production assistant, assistant system administrator, author, and developer working on online books), at ZDNet (as a developer), and Curl Corporation (where she is currently programming and vesting).
