There have been substantial developments since the last major revision of the book 20 years ago. Earlier editions were based on allowable stress design concepts: this is the first edition to be based entirely on those of limit state design and to take account of BS 5950 for buildings and BS 5400 for bridges.
The new edition also features a range of practical worked examples; substantial analytical data in a large appendix of tables; comprehensive treatment of element and connection design, including composite construction; and new sections on conceptual design, steel technology and construction, including tolerances, fabrication and erection.
The book continues to provide, in one volume, all the steel designer needs to know for the design of conventional steelwork.
