Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the evolutionary theory of how organs and organisms have changed over time by adapting to the demands placed upon them by their environment. The prevailing idea was that useful traits develop gradually over generations as organisms adapt to their niches. The author, however, argues that there is a more direct mechanism for the inheritance of acquired characteristics. The author proposes that function creates form, meaning that the repeated use of a certain organ or trait leads to its development and strengthening, and that this development can be passed on to offspring. This theory has implications for our understanding of evolution and could reshape our understanding of how species change over time.
