Mike Wilks was born in London in 1947 and won a scholarship to art school at the age of 13. He has published seven books to date, including the cult fantasy PILE, the classic puzzle book THE ULTIMATE ALPHABET and, most recently, the tantalizing and entertaining THE ULTIMATE NOAH'S ARK (0718135962). In 1990, Mike Wilks was the subject of an award-winning documentary on BBC television. He lives in France.
