Marnell was born and raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and signed up immediately after 9-11. He did three combat tours, spanning 39 months, to Afghanistan and Iraq as an infantryman. Marnell was stationed in Hawaii when not at war and left the army as a staff sergeant in December 2009.
