Sinossi
This is the first book which analyses the theoretical foundations of health promotion geared specifically for students on health and nursing courses. It provides a critical framework which is vital to clarify the intentions and outcomes of intervention designed to promote health in the wide range of practice settings and roles. The book is divided into three sections: Section 1 examines the concepts of health, health promotion and health education: Section 2 discusses the ethical and policy dilemmas which influence the context of practice: Section 3 is concerned with issues surrounding the implementation of health promotion in different settings. The book reflects the diversity of professional groups involved in health promotion and has been designed to encourage evaluation, reflection and debate through frequent reader activities, examples and discussion questions.
