Secondly, most chapter fall into the braod divisions of data sources, empirical studies, theortetical formulation, and policy implementation. The author concludes that two major themes emerge in his book. The first is the special spatial nature of rural areas, characterised by extensive land uses and the effect of the friction of distance.
