The tasks in this text are modelled on the rubrics and task types in the GCSE examinations to begin in 1998. Most, therefore, have German rubrics and require a response in German. A few of the more complex comprehension and interpretation tasks, and scenario settings for writing tasks and role play contexts, are in English, as in the examination.
