This seventh edition has been updated in the light of the Health and Safety Commission Guidance "Directors' responsibilities for health and safety" which extends and intensifies the current corporate duties and liabilities of directors under health and safety law. A number of modifications and changes have been made to the previous edition, including sections on competent persons, work-related upper limb disorders, revised first aid procedures, manual handling injuries and mobile work equipment.

Jeremy Stranks is a Fellow of both the CIEH and IOSH and a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner. He is a freelance trainer, consultant and expert witness in addition to being the author of many books on health and safety at work.
