This text tackles the controversial issues of racism, starting from the basics such as what race and racism is, and what racists do. It discusses the history of slavery, ethnic cleansing, the effects of media and how racism is treated in education. It also includes details on contemporary issues such as asylum seekers. Complete with real-life case studies and facts and figures from around the world, this text provides information to children so they can make up their own minds about this important subject. This text may be used to support the National Curriculum Key Stage 2 personal, social and health education framework where pupils are expected to learn about the consequences of antisocial behaviour, such as racism.
