A standard text, revised, updated, and expanded from the second edition of 1984 to encompass the use of computer-aided design software as adjunct to the study of control system analysis and design. In addition, the scope is broadened so that it is suitable for students of mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as other students of control systems. Many of the classical analytical and graphical techniques are retained, although the use of computer techniques in their application is emphasized. The concept of a system S is highlighted, and various mathematical representations of it by the transfer function and State equation are examined in early chapters.
