Sinossi

The Really Useful Science Book has been written with primary classroom teachers and teachers in training in mind. It has been designed to support and extend teachers' and student's own knowledge and understanding of science and should be of particular interest to those primary practitioners who see themselves as 'non-specialists'. Throughout the book every effort has been made to interpret the ideas and concepts of science in accessible language, using 'everyday' examples as illustrations.
The book consists of three major sections: life and living processes, materials and their properties, and physical processes. For each section, 'Key Ideas' are suggested and then expanded to include important related science concepts. At the end of each section the Key Ideas are cross-referenced to the National Curriculum Programmes of Study, clearly showing that the concepts described in The Really Useful Science Book will contribute to a complete coverage of the requirements of the 1995 National Curriculum for Science.
