The descendant of Jewish immigrants who became a peer, Greville Janner has worked throughout his life to foster greater understanding between communities in Britain and across the world. Born in Wales into a political and Zionist family, Lord Janner became the youngest ever War Crimes Investigator at the age of eighteen, in 1947. It was the start of a new life, one dedicated to trying to overcome all that Belsen stood for. In 1970, he was elected to succeed his father - MP for Leicester North West - and his political career spanned 27 years.
