Shirley Lacy graduated from Austin College. She taught school and worked for the Department of the Army in Germany. She received a Masters Degree from SMU and a Ph.D. from The University of North Texas. She has taken part in research projects studying the biochemistry of hyperactive children with or without ADD as well as the blood, urine and hair of alcoholic and/or drug addicts. Questioning 100 alcoholic/drug addicts in treatment she found that 25% of them had been diagnosed with hyperactivity, ADD or both. Studying 24 incarcerated youths ages 13-17 she learned that 23 had been diagnosed with ADD, 14 were hyperactive and 22 had abused alcohol and/or drugs. 100% had symptoms of low serotonin. Dr. Lacy has worked for 23 years with clients having behavior disorders and addictions. She is an LPC, LCDC and a Certified Clinical Nutritionist. Dr. Lacy's late husband, Larry Lacy was a respected architect in Dallas where his company designed the DFW Hilton, Royal Oaks and Bent Tree Country Clubs, office buildings and more than 100,00 apartments. He drew the blood sugar curves in this book.
