In Part II lessons, writing models provide students with points of reference for their own writing. Models introduce the writing genres of descriptions, narratives, expository essays, opinions, and summaries. Students read a sample passage written in response to the prompt. It stands as a model of good writing. Each lesson models and provides practice with graphic organizers appropriate for use with the lesson's writing genre. Students realize the possibilities for using these helpful tools for writing.
