About the Authors A native of North Carolina, Darwin Porter was a bureau chief for the Miami Herald when he was 21 and later worked in television advertising. A veteran travel writer, he wrote Frommer's first-ever guide to Italy many years ago and has been a frequent visitor ever since. He is joined by Danforth Prince, formerly of the Paris bureau of the New York Times, who has lived in Italy and traveled there extensively. As a team, they've researched and written other best-selling Frommer guides, including Frommer's Italy.
