<p><strong>Arthur I. Blaustein</strong> teaches community development, social history, and urban policy at the University of California, Berkeley. He was chair of the President's National Advisory Council on Economic Opportunity under President Jimmy Carter and in 1996 received the John Dewey Award for Distinguished Public Service. Blaustein serves on the board of the National Endowment for the Humanities and has been the faculty advisor to the AmeriCorps program at Berkeley since 1996. He lives in Berkeley, CA.
