Sinossi

Written by a collection of eminent researchers, this study takes a detailed look at African prisons, and examines how regional and international legal instruments have dealt with human rights concerns such as overcrowding, health care, pretrial detention, and the treatment of women and children. Providing concrete examples as well as theory, it analyzes human rights needs, developments, and policies, and makes recommendations as to how situations can be improved.
