A collection of essays in comparative defense policy, each applying a four-part country-study framework to describe the defense policy of an individual state. New to this edition (2nd ed., 1989) is the addition of regional security chapters that provide a context for individual country studies. An attempt is made to link states, regions, and global political environments while addressing broad security concerns that go well beyond defense, which is the principal focus of the country studies.
