Salter ( Treating Child Sex Offenders and Victims ) turns her attention to treating the trauma adults carry from sexual abuse as children. She introduces some new concepts such as sadistic and nonsadistic sex offenders, benign transformation, and malignant competition; and discusses the deviant sex abuse cycle and how apology and forgiveness fit into it, the effects on the heart and the mind, and specific healing techniques.
