Artificial neural networks have experienced rapid growth and popularity in recent years and have demonstrated strong abilities in learning, knowledge generalization, robustness to noise, and parallel processing. The discussions and studies presented in this special issue should stimulate researchers to fully explore the potential and applications of artificial neural networks to human-computer interaction, especially to user modeling and intelligent user interface.
