Sinossi

"Another triumph for Stephen Sandy as he works the edges of life's puzzles, small and large."---Alan Cheuse

"Stephen Sandy's new collection gives us, as before, a braided flow of thought and perception in the rhythms of a considering mind. For all the spareness of this poetry, what comes of it---in such a stunning poem as `A Dance'---is a sense of life fully encountered. I have found Overlook masterly and absorbing."---Richard Wilbur

"Captivating verse laid out in a web of felicities, fidelities, and sparkling innovations; a peace-loving, often witty look over what we keep over looking,' peering with caution or expectation...ready for what must be,' coming back from the wilds of experience to the house of meaning: `Always the great pleasure/was coming home/eyes dazzled by colors of walls/flowers in warm light.' Our lives in the world lie before us like jigsaw puzzles, which, as soon as we solve, we break up as the blitz broke up London, and then, `when we feel defeated by/lowering, brief days,' start rebuilding the dream `of Anne Hathaway's/thatched cottage on a sunny day.' This craftsman's consciousness heralds a new reality in the mind for the heart to relish."---F. D. Reeve

"Marked by increasing skill and affective force, Sandy's work has achieved, over three decades, the depth and robustness of an outstanding vintage."---David Yezzi in Poetry magazine
