Rosenberg (AB, English, UCLA; MS, library science, University of Southern California; doctoral work in English literature, Sorbonne, Paris) was Associate Director, National Technical Information Service, U.S. Department of Commerce. He has had extensive private and academic musical training and was for several years Classical Recordings Editor for both Library Journal and Previews magazine. He has written over 6,000 recordings reviews for newspapers and journals and is a frequent contributor to library professional journals on the subject of recorded performance and recording technology. He has taught music appreciation at Kent State University and has published Dictionary of Library and Educational Technology (3rd ed., 1989)
