The 34 chapters consider C*-algebras, von Neumann algebras, classification of C*-algebras, and hereditary subalgebras of certain simple non real rank zero C*-algebras. Topics include K-theory, crossed products, the Tomita-Takesaki theory, free products of von Neumann algebras, simple AI-algebras and the range of the invariant, the isomorphism theorem, the Kauffman-Lins recoupling theory, and relations to minimal models and subfactors.
