The Fields Institute and Fields Medal (the latter mentioned in the film "Good Will Hunting") honor a Canadian mathematician. In his spirit and that of late coauthor A.V. Strauss (Ul'yanovsk Pedagogical U., former USSR) to whom the volume is dedicated, 35 papers illustrate that operator language is the language of modern mathematical analysis. Strauss's bibliography and posthumously published article on functional models of regular symmetric operators initiate the volume.
