This two-part volume contains the proceedings of HYP2008, held at the University of Maryland in June, 2008. The conference highlighted several main themes, including singular limits; nonlinear wave patterns in multi-dimensions; particle/molecular dynamics; the theory and numerics of multiphases and interfaces; transport in complex environments; and model reduction. In the talks included here, researchers address theoretical, modeling, and computations issues arising under the umbrella of "hyperbolic PDEs." The first part of the volume contains the eight plenary talks and the eleven invited talks; the second, larger part contains 66 contributed talks.
