Shirley Williams is Professor Emeritus at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords.
Shirley Williams was Secretary of State for Education in an earlier Labour administration. The daughter of Vera Brittain, author of Testament of Youth, she is a practising Catholic. She is presently leader of the Liberal Democrats in the Lords.
