One more reason to choose my copy of this book. Pissarro was an important teacher and mentor to Paul Cezanne. They met around 1865, when Cezanne was in his mid-20s. Pissarro encouraged Cezanne to paint directly from nature and helped him move away from his earlier, darker and more dramatic style. They painted together in the countryside around Pontoise and Auvers-sur-Oise, particularly in the early 1870s. Pissarro also learned from Cezanne's unusual approach to structure and form.
