This volume accompanies an exhibition at The Art Institute of Chicago that showcases a unique collection of contemporary American realist drawings assembled over the course of the last twenty-five years by Chicago collectors Jalane and Richard Davidson.
This catalogue and the exhibition it accompanies focus on 125 drawings in the Davidson collection, bringing renewed attention to a trend in American contemporary art that is still largely overlooked by critics. All the works featured in the exhibition are illustrated in full color. The catalogue also includes an introduction by Mark Pascale, Associate Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute; a critical essay by Ruth Fine, Curator of Modern Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; and artists' biographies by Raymond Hernandez-Duran, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fellow in the Art Institute's Department of Prints and Drawings.
