This guide helps new and experienced teachers capitalize on both the accessibility and the challenges of two of Henry James' most frequently taught works. The essays in the first part suggest background readings, critical texts and various teaching resources. In the second part, the essays cover different approaches to the works, including new-historicist, biographical, metatextual, and semantic perspectives. They also show how these novellas may be taught alongside their film adaptations and discuss their use in composition courses. Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
