From the late 1960s through the early 1990s, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory was directed by James Watson. This volume highlights 34 of the 1500 research papers published during that golden period, which are reproduced (on a CD) with commentaries from the scientists who did the work. The papers were selected because they opened a new avenue of scientific investigation, or marked an important milestone in a field’s development, or brought a field to intellectual closure.
