Forging Alberta's Constitutional Framework explores the nature and development of Alberta's constitution by examining a number of celebrated cases and themes that have shaped and altered legal, social, economic, political and cultural rights and responsibilities within Alberta and Canada. The editors, Richard Connor and John M. Law, and the contributors analyze the principal events and processes that precipitated the emergence and formation of the law and legal culture of Alberta from the foundation of the Hudson's Bay in 1670 until the eve of the centenary of the Province in 2005. Many of the contributors offer particular insights into specific aspects of Alberta's historical experiences and cast light upon issues of national and even international importance. They share the goal of revealing the plethora of social, political, economic and cultural influences on the development of the province. Papers include Richard Connors on British law in Rupert's Land; Desmond Brown on the development of criminal law in the Canadian west; Edmund A. Aunger on French language rights; Sandra M. Anderson on the separate schools issue; Catherine Cavanaugh on the Person's Case; Thomas Flanagan and Mark Milke on the Natural Resources Transfer Agreement; Dale Gibson on the long-term impact of Alberta's social credit political revolution; Fred V.
