The psycholexical approach sets out to catalogue all significant perceptible variations in individual personality differences as documented in ordinary language. Resulting from factorial analyses of peer ratings in three of four different samples of Western male college students, a five factor model has been proposed in which personality is measured in regards to extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotion stability, and culture. This work describes the development of the theory and attempts to contribute to cross-language and cross-cultural applicability. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
