Informazioni sugli autori

Karen Brownlee's art focuses on landscapes, rural Alberta communities and grain elevators. Her watercolor series, Rural Prairie Communities and her Back Home 2005, a touring centennial exhibition, have been exhibited in galleries throughout Alberta. Karen Brownlee has been a juror for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, is a recipient of the Prairie Heritage Preservation Award and is the Founder of the Artist in Residency Program in Lethbridge, where she lives with her husband and two children.

Ken Tingley is a historic resource consultant, author and editor who has lived and worked in Edmonton for most of his life. His interest in grain elevators was stimulated when he wrote A History of the Ester Grain Elevator for Alberta Community Development.



Karen Brownlee, a full-time practicing artist, focuses on landscapes, rural Alberta communities and grain elevators. She is proficient in sumi-e and other diverse styles of Japanese and Chinese brush painting, which she worked in exclusively for ten years. Karen has been a juror for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and was the Alberta recipient of the Davis and Henderson Intercheques Prairie Heritage Preservation Award. She lives in Lethbridge Alberta with her husband, son and daughter.
Longtime Edmonton resident Ken Tingley is a historic resource consultant, author, and editor who cooperated in the development of the inventory of city historic sites both pre- and post-war. His previous book for Red Deer Press was Alberta Remembers: Recalling Our Rural Roots, a collaboration with artist Karen Brownlee.
