Stepping beyond cognitive science's new theory of "connectionism," Gee formulates a dynamic social theory of mind and meaning. JAMES PAUL GEE is Professor of Linguistics at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He is the recipient of numerous awards and major grants for his work in linguistics. He is the author of many articles and two previous books, the most recent of which is Social Linguistics and Literacies.
