About the Author:

William Layton is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of numerous papers on computational fluid dynamics, advisor to more than 20 Ph.D. students, and a former Georgia state chess champion. His current interests include turbulence modeling and simulation as well as whitewater kayaking.
